Drinking tea for breakfast seems to be becoming somewhat of a tradition here in the South. Also, because visitors mainly come from Anglo-saxon countries, and they simply expect that tea is available, in the ango-saxon style, both for breakfast, but also for tea time. So in Sorrento by now, it is normal that you can ask in your hotel for tea in the afternoon, and be given in addition tea cookies. It seems we have developed a style of Tea time alla sorrentina by now.

But returning for breakfast, it is now the Twinings English breakfast tea that is usually available, no matter whether you order tea at a bar, caffé or at a hotel. Often, you can also choose between various Twinings teas: Orange Pekoe, Earl Grey, Green Tea flavored with lemon and natural. Tea usually comes in tea bags.

Still, Kousmi tea, the French tea label, is advancing. You find it for example at Pasticceria Pansa in Amalfi. And in Sorrento, you can taste the Whittington Tea blends, at a trendy Pasticceria in Corso Italia. So variety is here and is here to stay, at the same time a consciousness of serving high-quality tea is growing. Still, for breakfast we have to admit, it is still coffee, coming in the usual Italian morning variants, that takes center stage.
