Saturday Breakfast: La Zagara's flowering citrus grove at the most beautiful time of the year

5/04/2013
La Zagara: there is a very good reason why I am describing this caffé-bar, or rather garden bar, as they call themselves, once again, and this time a bit more in detail. It is actually one of the most relaxing and peaceful places I know, in the midst of Positano but also in the midst of a citrus grove. And guess how good the zagare - the citrus flower blossoms, perfume the air at this time of the year.
A colorful terrace, with colorful floor tiles and sand-colored cane chairs
Lean over the wooden railings, and below you find a tropical oasis, palm trees including the endemic dwarf palm, clematis, pot plants and aromatic herbs.
This is how La Zagara is surrounded by thick green citrus trees, with a view down towards the sea
A white clematis is climbing up the pergola roof
And this is where your breakfast is prepared. You could also order freshly squeezed orange juice ...
A huge yellow ceramic cappuccino cup decorates the counter
My cappuccino, served with a cannolo (actually a delicacy from Sicily, in the meantime it is so rooted here in Costiera, too. And comes in many varieties invented here. But you could also opt for the classic cornetto, or Torta positanese, a house speciality: chocolate cake with chocolate frosting.
The menu
You can feel this air filled with sweet fragrance in particular on warm, moist and cloudless mornings, as was the case this morning.
Morning sun rays reflected
Surrounded by a terrace shaded by lemon and orange trees, white clematis, kiwi - you sit here enjoying a perfect cup of cappuccino on tables with ceramic tables made for La Zagara. Take a look at the tables, each boasts a different motive:
